DA Prep originated in 2016 geared toward educating high school students for career ready jobs upon graduation. Our mission is to empower individuals to further their careers by providing a strong educational foundation in dentistry.
Lorie Jones, of Magnolia, is a licensed dental hygienist and the former Director of Dental Services at TOMAGWA HealthCare Ministries. Being in dentistry for over 20 years, she has had the opportunity to work in a variety of capacities. Her passion for helping students came when she began teaching in Spring ISD. She became a certified teacher in Health Science Technology, created the district's Dental Assisting program and went on to become the Spring ISD Secondary Teacher of the Year. She is a member of the American Dental Hygienist Association and the Texas Dental Hygiene Educators Association and a past president and member of the Texas Dental Hygienist Association. Additionally, she is president of the University of Texas Dental Hygiene Alumni Association, past president and member of the Greater Houston Dental Hygienist Association, and a member of the Texas Oral Health Coalition. Lorie received a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from The University of Texas at Houston, a Master of Business Administration from Louisiana State University Shreveport and is a current governor appointee to the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners.
Rebecca’s passion for dentistry started at age sixteen where she began working as a sterilization technician in a small private practice dental office. Her love for the field grew from there as she earned her Associates of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene from Lamar University Institute of Technology, became a Registered Dental Hygienist, and then earned her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio. Rebecca has a vast knowledge of all aspects of dentistry working in clinical settings for general practice dentistry, pediatric dentist, and in a periodontal practice. In 2008, Rebecca became an educator for Dental Hygiene students at LoneStar College Kingwood Dental Hygiene program. Rebecca has taught in clinical and didactic courses from beginner to advanced dental hygiene. In addition to teaching courses, Rebecca has developed and updated curriculum for courses and performed revisions for other faculty. Further, Rebecca was appointed by the State Board of Dental Examiners to serve as a testing agent for CRDTS for dental hygiene candidates. Rebecca has and still actively volunteers in public health settings, has participated in numerous medical/dental mission trips in the US and Peru, is a standing member in the American Dental Hygiene Association, served on the LoneStar College Kingwood Dental Hygiene Advisory Board, is an active member of Dental Hygiene Educators of Texas, served on the SHAC committee for Tarkington High School. Rebecca is still an active clinical practice dental hygienist, examiner, dental hygiene educator and works for RDA Prep, a career ready dental assisting course for high school students.
