The DA Prep Online Qualified Dental Assistant Course is a comprehensive program that teaches the student about dental assisting, the dental profession, the dental office and the laws of the state of North Dakota. Modules include radiology, infection control, dental anatomy, oral health, prevention of dental disease, patient information, dental charting, instrument identification, chairside assisting, pain management, dental materials, dental procedures, career preparation and employability.
There are two course options to become a QDA. If you are currently working in a dental office and are being sponsored by your dentist, you are eligible for the 6 week course. If you are new to the profession and are not associated with a dental office, please select the 12 week course.
The 6 Week QDA Course is $1250 and the 12 Week QDA Course is $1750.
The didactic portion of the course is designed to be completed within the specified time frames of 6 or 12 weeks, however it can vary depending on the participant. Course must be completed within 1 year of enrollment.
There is a 300-hour clinical field experience requirement. This requirement is set by the North Dakota Board of Dental Examiners. These hours can be obtained through a job at a dental office or through internship hours. Guidance on the clinical experience is given through the online course.
Rebecca Ficken and Lorie Jones, both of whom are dental hygienists and educators, oversee the online course and communicate with the student about the student's progress. (See the About Us Section)
Most assignments and submissions are graded on a Pass/Fail in lieu of the traditional letter grade. However, there are a few designated exams throughout the course that require a letter grade. Each of these exams must be passed with a 75 or higher. Comprehension of the material is of utmost importance.
This course is approved by the North Dakota Board of Dental Examiners to prepare the individual to become a Qualified Dental Assistant.
There is an application process the student must adhere to in order to become a qualified dental assistant with the state dental board. This process is reviewed in detail through the online course.
